Advice for those who learning Arabic for Islamic Studies, and one of the Myths students have in their approaches to achieve it .

All the Praise is due to Allah Az wa Jala and peace and blessing be upon His Messenger.

For those who begin with Arabic language, and they are not learning it in an institute like Madiaah Islamic University and whatever university that has the same set up like it, like Azhar, Muhammad ibn Saud in Saudi, others Islamic Universities in Jordan, Sudan, Pakistan etc. Some of the centers in Yemen.

Many who study Arabic outside those settings, like in Arabic Institute in Egypt like al-Ibaanah, Fajr Center, al Qurtaba and whatever like their settings. Or with a teacher one on one , or group lessons for Arabic in person or online where they live in US. I want to address those who…

Yes there are early Hadith collections. One of the claims hurled at Muslims by Christian missionaries and Hadith-rejecters are that they say, “there are no hadiths collections from early Islam”. According to them, Hadith came into existence 250 to 300 years after the Prophet Muhammed’s (p) demise. In this article I will show evidences from non-Muslim Scholars that Hadith existed way before the dates they have brought forth.

First Century Hadith Collections

Sahifa Hamman B. Munabbih

It is well-known fact among Muslim scholars that Hammam B. Munabbih was a student of Abu Huraira. The earliest hadith collection we have extant is Sahifa b. Munabbih which was written by the student of Abu Huraira. The Books name is ‘Sahifah Hammam b.Munabbih’.

Quran 2:191 – “And kill them wherever you find them…”

Critics as usual apply ‘cut and choose’ approach with regards to this passage (Quran 2:191). They only quote, “And kill them wherever you find them…(2:191). However, when we read the passage in its context (2:190-195) it says opposite what they portray of the verse.

Quran 2:190 – 195

2:190Fight in the way of Allahthose who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.
2:191 And kill them wherever you find them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah [Persecution] is worse than killing. And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

Humor is Mandatory

At one point I lived alone with five cats. Before you think me a totally crazy cat lady, only two of the cats were mine. Two belonged to my daughter and one I was babysitting for the summer. Each morning after fajr prayer, I would spend a few moments reading Quran. Since I don’t read Arabic (well), I listen to Mishary al-Efasi and follow along and then re-read the English translation of the meaning. My cats almost always come to listen as well. Although only two are seen here, Leo (mine) and Spencer (the visitor) were lying off to the side. Ajax (tabby to the right – also mine) and Knee (resting on my leg) are the ones in the photo and Tank (a half Bengal bundle of non-stop energy) was likely running in and out of the room. Now, I’m down to only my two cats, Leo and Ajax…
